I've been reading a lot about manufacturing interior bulkheads, instrument panels etc on older kits by making a mould with modelling clay, freezing the male mould overnight and then using sections, cut through with a razor saw prior to tracing out on a piece of sheet. Simple!!!!!
Is DAS modelling clay okay for this (seemingly it air dries)and wouldn't I need to use some form of release agent to get my male mould out of the fuselage without damage? Any suggestions? Oh, I tried Blu-Tak, doesn't work!

Plain vegetable oil is a good release agent since it won't attack either the plastic or the clay. Brush it on with a pastry brush (or a very clean paintbrush) and rinse it off with soapy water.

Hi Shane
As far as I know a big problem which you have using DAS is that it tends to shrink and warp a lot when it dries. Your job risks to be imprecise. Lots of modeller I know actually use plasticine.
Regarding the release agent , talcum powder is a good and cheap one.
