Hi Gang,I`ve just watched the Red Tails movie after waiting ages to get it on DVD - now i want to do a model of one of the P-51`s from the movie.
The problem is the movie shows D models whilst much of the photo evidence shows the B model in service !.
Can someone tell me which is correct ?.

332nd FG flew P-40's, P-47's, and P-51 B,C and D models.
Some excellent colour profiles can be found in the Osprey book HERE

Tamiya have released their 1:48th P-51D in a Tuskegee boxing and there are also plenty of decal sheets on the market.

I keep meaning to get around to doing one myself as I met a Tuskegee airman a couple of years ago when I was in Texas and have wanted to model his aircraft ever since.

..Danny, the new Airfix P.51 D (1/72) comes with Tuskegee decals. It's a very nice quick build as well, I'm on my third one already

P-39's were the original replacement for the tuskegee p-40's. they were only equipped with them for a short period.
