Here is my Bf 109K-4 I built from the Airfix Special Boxing of the very old Heller 1/72 scale kit.
My model was built O.O.B. and was painted with Testors enamel paints, the camouflage pattern was airbrushed free handed. The exhaust stains look overdone but they are not, photographs show this 109 had very heavy exhaust stains on it.
Decals used were those from EagleCals and I marked my K-4 as a machine that was operated III JG 27 in 1945.
Sharp eyed readers will easily notice the pilots head armor is missing, I had wanted to include this in my model but this part was missing in my kit so I had to finish the model without it.

A great job on a great scale! I always build (most of the time) in 72 and greatly enjoy it. Again good work Les. Russell

Thank you Russell!
My next two models that are being built are 1/72 scale Japanese aircraft, something a bit different from me.

I normally work in 1/72 scale Les, but I am moving toward the line of 1/200 scale Cyberhobby models of large aircraft! The XB-35 flying wing is on the top of my wish list! Russell

I forgot Les, what two Japanese aircraft are you working on? Just curious. Russell

Russell,
I have a Nanzan trainer which is from the very nice Tamiya kit and the other one is an old MPM Reppu limited run kit, the MPM kit so far has needed a lot of carving of excess plastic from most parts...not exactly a kit for beginners. But as is the case with most of the early Special Hobby and MPM kits I have built before the end result is worth the extra effort put into them.

Les! Heller did many nice kits and the 109-K was certainly one of them! I like the look of yours a lot!

Thank you Magnus,
I like many of the older kits and always enjoy building them. If this Heller mold K-4 had engraved panel lines it would compare well with much newer designed kits.
Two other older kits that are my alltime favorites are the Revell 1/48 scale Bf 109G-10 and 1/48 scale Monogram Me 262...with some careful building and painting these can be made into great models that almost match some of the new kits of today.

Many of Monogram's 1/48 lineup are exactly like that.

Considering how long some of the better Monogram kits have been around they were the best there was until Hasegawa and Tamiya became more well known.
Too bad Monogram quit because I feel they could still be number one today if they kept trying.
