Hi there!
It seems that finaly I succeded trying to press form a canopy for my 1/72 spitfire. The question that I have now is how to paint it. I tried to use masking tape to mask it but didn't work. What should I do, use liquied masks?
Need your help!!
Thanks

Hi Danmo,
Try using the parafilm to mask your canopy. If that doesn't work the try the canopy masks. Hope that helps.

Hi danmo
Could you give a bit more detail about what went wrong using masking tape? - it should be fine...
An alternative is to paint clear decal and cut it into strips for the framing. First paint it with the interior colour (in this case, British Grey-Green), and then with the camouflage colour(s).
It's fiddly to apply, but can look great on vacuform canopies.
Hope this helps

Thanks a lot!
I think I will try a few techniques and choose the better.
The problem with the masking tape is that the plastic of my press formed canopy is not as hard as the original one. When I tried to put the tape it moved a lot and just coulden't made it.
going to try the decal sheet and also try to find the canopy masks
Thanks again

Hi again danmo
A good trick to use to stop vacuform canopies distorting while you work on them, is to carefully mount them on Silly Putty or Blu-tak.
You need to be gentle when removing the finished canopy, but these shouldn't leave a residue.
All the best and good luck
