Hi Dudes, Dudettes,
This is my entry to WOW campaign, a Hasegawa 1/48 F14A, with Aires Cockpit, Eduard PE, and one of the Aires exhaust can. Been working on the cockpit in the last few days, and this is partially done. Lots of coloring, weathering, need to be added.
It's a lot of fun to work with cockpits.
And Manie Warm Wishes

Lord Lens:
As in the past, your cockpit detailing is phenomenal. From looking at this detailing I assume you use super fine brushes??? and what type of paint to get the solid coverage??
Very impressive and worthy of a UOM.

Indeed great work Mr. Dave. Really fine paintwork. Even though what I know about cockpits and aircraft could be engraved on a PE bolt head, I can appreciate the craftmanship here. Looking great and keep posting your work!

That is one busy cockpit, Dave. It is looking great so far. I am not much for building the Wingy things myself , but I do enjoy watching someone who has the talent build one. So, I'll be watching this one.

Dudes, and Dudette,
Thanks for your kind words, to answer a few questions:
1. Actually I use a rather large brush for the detail paint, just apply very little pressure on the tip, and sweep it through the knobs
2. Instead of using enemal or oil for dry brush, I like to use acrylic for its richness in color.
3. The screens, I first paint the base chrome silver, then paint it clear green, after that add krystal on it, to form a thin sheet of glass like thingy.
And again, thanks for all your kind words.

looking good Dave. One thing I might point out is aren't the ejection chord things striped with black also? Also I'm somewhat concerned with the accuracy of this aircraft. Usually flying machines have wings and tails for control surfaces. This thing lacks those, is it some sorta new anti-grav Navy thing? Oh and it lacks a tail hook, big problem if attempting carrier landings. The grey on the outer surfaces is also suspect. It looks about 1.387462% of off the typical FS-87027468474 Persian Gulf June/July Infidel Aircraft Light Sea Grey which would be appropriate for the time period in which this aircraft was used. I think al Jihadi enamels make this paint color. The invisible cloaked crew members are well done however. The paint scheme on them perfectly blends in with their background and surroundings. The styrofoam carrier deck is also well portrayed, even the catapult gear running lengthwise on the deck. Very well done. Overall however it's looking pretty good, not expertlies builded yet, but getting there. Keep up the good work. Manie Warm Wishes.
catette A.W.F,
You obviously trying to do an Uday, but lack his talent and knowledge, this is actually an Chinese attempt for their first carrier, in 1993, Chinese Spy infiltred Grumman factory with midget mice, and stole the plan, as well as Northrop for stealth technic. Somehow trusting their production to an Audio company's subcontracting factory that makes cheapo discman for numbered licensed product for Walmart, they had achieved cloaking for the plane, yet not the cockpit. Hence only the cockpit is visible. Chinese called this half-arse cloaking plane RF/A/B-69 Red Robin, to commemorate the provincial bird of Canton.
Now, go home and reread your tech book. and thanks for the kind word. And Manie Warm Wishes!

Very well detailed there dave nice use of the hand brush .
With my expertise i must say that the need of wings is essential to it being a wingy thingy.
Can't wait to see it finished.

Lordus Davidus ,
At last You made it - very nice cocpit - I hope You sand it well because Aires cocpit is a little bit "fat" . Nice monitor screens at Pilot and Rio part - how You made it ( original decals from Hasegawa set ? ) or clear green wit some modeler improvements ?( OK I read some post before - I know the method )
Keep Going - Tomcats Forever !!!!
