I am working on Italaries C-119 "Flying box car". I was wondering if anyone else has built this kit?
I found it went together fairly well, with some joint issues around certain areas of the wings. Nothing a few coats of puddy couldn't fix.
I have not gotten to the decals yet - any tips tricks, how are they in general?

Isn't that the plane from the movie Con-Air? Or is that a different one? Sorry but I have never built it.

The Con-air aircraft was the old C-123 Provider. A noisy, nasty, but very capable airplane, first one they threw me out of in airborne school. Remember, the USAF has no perfrectly good airplanes
I have not built the Testors C-119. I do have a partially built Aurora C-119 :-) Its been in that condition for 30 years

Ranger, thanks for the answer. I just saw a making of Con-Air on TV. They showed how they made huge models of it to crash. Now that's the life....to build movie models for a living.

Now this would be an interesting mod-job for the C-119. The AC-119 gunship!

Wow, many thx for the Link Doppler! Now that's a subject matter that could force me back into aircraft modeling! I'll just have to remember this time not to bring it near any IPMS 'A' type rivet counters.

Yes, the site is rather nice, especially when you dig around in it. See the t-shirts for sale? What an organization! Everyone always knows of the AC-130 and if you have ever lived near Eglin AFB in Florida... they keep you up at night with all their firing. Sounds like a drumbeat.
But the AC-119 is just too cool because of its anonymity. If one was to mod that Italerie C-119 into an AC-119, it would definitely be a unique piece at a show or simply in your collection.

No need to 'Mod' guys...just stopped by my local hobby shop (Colpar) and saw that Italeri already makes the AC-119 Gunship! It's in 1/72nd scale (wish it was bigger).

Treadhead - You must have some shelf-space To go for a 1/48 C-119, you plan to put it next to the 1/48 B-1? LOL. There are two 1/1 scale C-119s at the Ft. Campbell museum, and they are tall critters.
