I was thinking an OD green color like on the Memphis Bell. Leaving the bottom a grey steel color. Any ideas?
I'm wanting to build a replica model of the Bell. I found a really cool website with the original plane. Apparently it's the original plane that been restored.
Thanks guys,
Andy

Olive Drab over Neutral Gray are your base colors, and there's a catch. If I remember correctly, the MB is one of several B-17F's that also had a disruptive spray scallop of green blotches around the wing and horizontal stabilizer upper surface leading and trailing edges. Model Master's 34102 Medium Green (the lighter green in USAF SEA camo) or Euro I Green may be the right color for that.

The spray scallop also turned up on Havocs, probably on others as well. Was it not fairly unusual though? Jim

Model Master makes a pretty good OD spray paint. Thats what I used on mine. And the bottom is Neutral grey.

Hi there Andy
I checked out an article in FSM - Modeling WW2 for the following matches:
Dark Olive Drab No. 41 - Tamita XF-62, Humbrol 108 & Xtracolor X-111 are all extremely close.
Medium Green No. 42 - Xtracolor X-114 is the only close match...
Neutral Gray No. 43 - none of the available paints match, because they are all too blue. The suggested mix is Floquil - 40% Engine Black & 60% Reefer White.
The article is 10 years old, so there may be better matches available out of the pot now...
All the best
Rowan

Next question is this. When I paint the bottom the grey where should the line between the green and grey start? Should I overlap the 2, or use a fine line?
Thanks,
Andy

Olds:
Generally speaking, Thier was a line just below the waist gunners windows, And it was more or less blended but not so much that hier was an actual line type apperance. most of a gradual soft blending. And it was wavy in appearance not dedicated. A good ezxample would be to find some good color photos of the B-17 which Squadron provides at any hobby shop. Good luck. I have built 2 B-17G Models and loved it. 1 I named Hanover Hannah, And the other is Miss Barabara. Though I like to think that Hanover Hannah looks better.
