Faced with the imminent collapse of my studio's bookshelves, my dear wife consented equipping my man cave with new, custom shelves, incorporating a display case. Before I could stop myself, I suggested it would be a good time to paint the room. Wait- what the heck was I thinking? The results- are shown below.
Here's a shot of the shop in it's glory days- note the sagging, warped IKEA Billies- bad news!
Not a bad layout, but disorganized and cluttered. No lighting in the open display corner.
My happy place! The Me509 can be seen in the focal center of the room.
The 4th corner of the room- all those balsa free-flight planes were built from sheet stock and tissue paper.
Another view of the eye of the storm- it should look familiar, in a way.
Some of my first balsa peanut planes.
Various denizens and artifacts fill the countless nooks and crannies.
Stripped to the bone! The work crew will be here this week to slap on some paint and put in the new shelves- and then it will be time to piece all that stuff back together!
Stay tuned- and cheers!

Most importantly, did you discover the nest of the Carpet Monster, surrounded by the shrivelled husks of parts long gone missing?

Wow, Chuck, you lucky guy! A wonder wife you have.

Are you saying bookshelves aren't supposed to sag? Those free flight planes look beautiful. Hope your project turns out well.

Thanks, everybody! I did find a fabulous collection of dead bugs of all kinds, but I generally track down my dropped parts without mercy. Glad you like the ol' free-flight stuff- and yes, my wife is a true gem. Ray- I designed that prop for DC Comics- as a rough sketch anyway! I was expecting to do a detailed study but they ran with a scribble from my fevered brain. must have been a deadline thing1
Back in business! I've been repairing, cleaning, sorting and replacing. Some junk went out, and everything's spruced up and in place. The books are sorted largely by size- I'll have to get 'em more organized in the future. A few little bits still need to be sorted out, but I'm calling this project done.
Aw, yes- ready to go! I sorted through all those little drawers- junk went bye-bye!
The cabinets are really first-rate- and there's sapce for more books. Moar books, ploz!
The shelf replacing the windowsill was a nice surprise from my friend the contractor.
The beer light hung in my Dad's bar for years and years- here's to you, Pop!
The Golden Age wall, with a guest appearance by your slovenly host. Visible through the door is the computer desk I sit at as I I type these words, and where I create my girlie art.
At last a safe place to put the finished builds!
Eras of German aviation streak across the ceiling, and Jill St. John hands Sean Connery a martini in that Rutan Variviggen.
Now I can get back to the Me509- or should I repaint that nasty bum first? Oh, hell- the end!

Hi Chuck,
Nice work place! Tell me about the Eindekker?
On the window sill, to the left, is that a box of Berol prismacolor markers?

I remember Schaefer Beer, it was the one to have when you're having more than one.

Looks like a nice place to work and play. Any closeups of the B-25?

Hi Chuck
That really is a fantastic workroom - both before, and especially after the make-over.
I've booked some time off work in a couple of weeks and plan to clean up the disaster area I call my workroom but, whatever I do, there's no hope it'll turn out as good as yours, so I'm not jealous at all!
All the best

Thank you, thank you- I'll be here all week! Bum-da-bum!
That Eindekker is 1/16 scale and from plans of my own design. Free flight electric-powered. It flew nicely but was a bit underpowered- to warped now to fly again.
My folks ran a corner bar, Stanley's Tavern, in Trenton, NJ throughout my early years. Mt Dad took it over from his folks and that sign hung in a window for decades- oh, the layers of smoke on every surface!
Alcad black primer doesn't seem to be a good base for Tamiya, does it? I'll redo that test-shot girlie some day- I've even nabbed some carbon-fiber decal to dress her up proper-like!
The B-25 is the Hasegawa 1/72- here's a link to my build review at Modeling Madness: http://www.modelingmadness.com/review/allies/us/usaaf/woj25h.htm
Now I can get back to work- and get the room broken in. Me509 with Kubel, Well dio, another neglected build review- maybe even the Incredible Hulk will get his pants sorted out.
Thanks again- and cheers!

Outstanding upgrade to your man cave. I consider myself lucky enough to have one, although my wife constantly claims that I'm taking over the entire house. Not true. The garage and shed I got by default. The rest is her domain.

Thanks for the link to your B-25 build. I like how you tell about your builds. Always a good story to follow with clearly explained steps.

Nice room you got there Chuk. Lcarrol and I will join you for a beer!
Where's the shelving from? Custom unit? I'm setting up my man cave soon and I need a place for - amongst other things - my Mustang that you were kind enough to comment on (feature article)
I'm actually going to use laminate flooring for a feature wall - the ones my two work benches are on (one for painting, one for building) but aside from that I'm at a loss.
