hello!

I'm looking to find out exactly what paint job the 2 F-14's involved in the Gulf of Sidra incidenet in 1981 would have worn?

From photos, it seems they are one solid grey (top and underside), but I can't tell for sure. The jets were Fast Eagle 102 and 107.

Thanks in advance!

The first "low vis" F-14 scheme involved overpainting the white undersides with the same gull grey as was already on the uppersurfaces, and moving to subdued markings. The only colour photo I can find looks more like it's overall 36495 but since it's a representation I can't say for certain that would have been correct.

Thanks Jessie!

Is there an approximate Vallejo colour for this?

Vallejo 71.130 Gull grey is apparently the match.

That drawing looks much more like overall 36495 than 36440. There doesn't appear to be a direct match available in the Vallejo range.
