Middle Wallop plane crash aftermath filmed by witness
Advertisement 28 April 2013 Last updated at 07:37 ET Help The aftermath of a plane crash in Hampshire which killed its pilot was caught on camera by a witness.

Nick Bayes said it appeared the plane had been flying with a number of replica historic aircraft.

He was later alerted that it had come down at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop on Saturday.

Emergency crews declared the pilot, who was flying alone and has not been identified, dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The pilot, the only person aboard the aircraft, died at the scene, and the incident is now being investigated jointly by Hampshire Police and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.

Witness Nick Bayes, from Andover, Hampshire, said he saw about 12 planes in the air when the accident happened, some of which seemed to him to be flying close together. Video filmed by Nick Bayes.

The pilot (as yet un-named) was a resident of my home town. Although no more details have been released it's been stated by witnesses that there were a number of aircraft in close formation, as if they were practising manouvers for a display.

Very, very sad, indeed. In a way, the war to end all wars has claimed yet another victim? Peace to the pilot and his family. Russell

Sad news yes, sadder still it went all but unreported in the UK where it occured, A lost life more important than the loss of the aircraft. I can only think his family may get some solace knowing he died doing what he must have loved greatly.
