For a long time I wanted to build a Turkish Air Force Fw.190. Between 1943 and 49 our fighter squadrons were a complete catalog flying Fw.190s, Spitfires, Hurricanes, P-40s and from 147 on even P-47s. Fw.190 is always a special aircraft for me and TuAF flying them is even more interesting but since we had a special variant called Fw.190Aa-3, which is basicly a downgunned A-3 lacking the wing root cannons I had to hunt down for one in my usual scale. As far as I know only Tamiya has one. I decided to build it for the 25th Istanbul Aviation Museum Plastic Aircraft Modeling contest in Yesilkoy Air Force Academy. Did I little, just a little bit research and mostly followed my fellow modelers' works whose knowledge I trust. There are debates on the colour schemes wheather if they are the usual 74/75/76 of the period that LW used or the earlier 65/02/71 and since they have no surviving specimens or colour photographs we can not be certain but the sources generally indicate they were the latter so I decided to go with them. My target was the number 11 of the "Albaş"(Redhead) squadron. I didn't find any photoes but again I followed some previous models and other aircrafts' photoes.
Used Humbrol 65 as RLM 65 and MM RLM 02 to sprey the base colours then masked the wheel bays and sprayed them with 02 again
I used Humbrol 117 for the RLM71 which is suggested to be a close shade in several sources and sprayed the general camouflage outline.

I must admit that I've been fascinated by these, and by the Spitfire Vs that flew alongside them. I reviewed the Hobby Time Decals sheet in 1/48 scale last year. I had thought to do mine in the 74/75/76 scheme, just because.

Wow! I didn't expect reply this quickly but it is a logical time in the New world isn't it:] Thank you very much.
Jessica, I think our dear friend Ayhan Toplu prepared those but I am not exactly sure. I am rather certain about the colours...but hey it is a hobby right? As long as you don't attend to a competition in Turkey I don't think anyone will object to the colours. Besides I would prefer them to be 74/75/76 too...They look cooler:]

Indeed they're Ayhan's work, and quite thorough they are.
It's a sunny evening here on the Left Coast; sunset won't happen for another hour or so. Of course, you'll be waking up and getting on with your day while it's still the middle of the night here

Ayhan's sheet mentions both colour schemes. I guess it's possible that some of each were delivered given the time it took to fulfil the delivery contracts during wartime.

Jessica, yes it is both possible and probable. I still prefer the later one to be true but ...ehe..gotta go with the tide and go with the accepted facts with official juries.
Danke Sebastian.
