I want to build a 1:32 A-10(or variant), but I'm an armor guy. I know that Hasegawa and Tamiya produce nice kits. However, I need some expert advice as to which one to get. TIA.

Only Trumpeter makes a 1/32 A-10, as far as I know.

I believe Trumpeter produces two versions.

Does does offer two versions of the A-10 but unfortunately, the Warthog is one of their least accurate kits.

Hi Matt,Do`nt be put off by the "doubting Thomas`s",If you can get hold of Verlinden`s set for the cockpit and with a little TLC it turns into a great kit.
I am an armour guy too so just had to have one of these (i built "play time" from the first gulf war using an A/M decal sheet).
A word of warning though, watch the fit of the wings around the undercarriage area - be prepared to do some filling and sanding around these !

Danny: Thanks for the pointers. This project is going to be put off, until I finish scratch building a panzer III.

Make sure you have 1/32 scale ALQ-101V10 ECM pods. The A-10's carried two usually during DS1. The ALQ-101 is the "broomstick" often found in F-4E kits from Revell (1/32 scale); however, it's an early version. Find photos and update one...

Matt, I build the 2 seat version as a What-If because I didn't couldn't find enough info on the A-10A N/AW. It builds into great model with some TLC. An aftermarket cockpit and exhaust is a must for both type.

... and a vacform cockpit canopy (I believe Squadron makes it) won't hurt either, as the one supplied is far from accurate:
- the front windshield framing is too wide and the shield itself should be a little bit less wide.
- the cross section of the aft canopy is too straight, it should be more curved and also at the bottom edge where it meets the fuselage there should be a kink in cross section.
- when looking from the side, where the canopy meets the forward windshield, the canopy should drop more and be more rounded. Also, the forward rear canopy edge/vertical frame itself should be slightly more tilted forward a couple of degrees when looking sideways.
- the aft canopy framing and location of the edge is slightly set too high, the transparent area being somewhat larger.
You should also know that the fuselage nose is too blunt: it should be sharper with a more tapered curvature in front of the windscreen.
If you seek accuracy, the best A-10 would be the 1:48th scale Monogram kit or its Revell clone.

I'm keeping track of this. My build keeps getting pushed back.
