Is it easier than it looks, applying the long thin decals
that define the PCM Spitfire's "no walk" areas?

It shouldn't be any more difficult than applying any other long thin decal. Tease off one end and then pull the paper out from under it along the decal's length. Make sure to have plenty of water on the wing to help the decal float into position. I've done several 1/32 Spits without difficulty this way.
