In 2009 after nearly 30 years away from the hobby, I joined my brother in once again building scale models. I to started out with a few aircraft models, then one day headed on over to Armorama and spent almost three years there. Now the aircraft bug has bitten me once again. Currently I'm building Tamiya's 1/48 scale F4U-1A Corsair strictly OOB, and have signed on for the Douglas Propeller Campaign.
I thought I just post a few pictures of my 3 completed aircraft models.

Thanks Russell, Neil, & Jonathan for the kind words.
The Hobby Boss Avenger was a real challenge from start to finish. Masking the canopy was hard enough, but the gun turret was a real bear.

JA
Outstanding work. Guess you know my favorite of the builds id the Skyraider ... beautifully done.
Fit and finish on the Bird Cage Corsair is right on the money and the weathering is just as I like it: Used but not abused.
Keep 'em coming

Hi!
Great models, Joel!
My favourite is the Avenger... but all three show very high modelling skills. I hope you will increase your output and we can see more finished models.
Regards,
Sebastian

Sebastian, You can bet on it. My armor days are basically over except for one special build per year like the M-42 Duster over this coming winter. Aircraft, WW11 to be precise, has always been my 1st interest in aviation & modeling.
My current build is coming along nicely at a relaxed and enjoyable pace, the 1/48 scale Tamiya F4U-1A Corsair. I'm planning on a small build thread of just the model ready for priming, then painted & decaled, and finally completed. Since it's strictly an OOB build, I don't see any reason to bore you guys with a step by step account of the usual build sequence, you've all seen it over and over again.

Joel,
these are 3 awesome finished builds!!
And exactly 3 more then I managed to build when going back to the hobby after 30 Years...
Same birds are as well sleeping in my stash. And many more are in progress - but yet didnīt leave "workbench-state".
Enjoy your next one,
Thomas

Thomas, thanks so much for the kind words.
I must confess, while I've only finished 3 aircraft models, I've completed 10 1/35 scale USA armor models, and I did sneak in Tamiya's 1/20 McLaren MP4/4 formula 1 car. But I've really slowed my pace down, as once again I was just burning myself out.

OOOkay...
...took a recent sneak at your photo gallery!
The Tanks are "WOW" - now I can see your experience!
I rcognized that your aircraft-weathering is quite similar to AMVīs but much cleaner. Seems also like using filter technics for the shades.
Great stuff!

Thanks Tom. With Armor I really like to use filters and washes after the panel lines are 1st done with a pin wash, and the excess removed with a damp Q-tip. With aircraft I used just a wash with oils over Future or Glosscoat, then as it set up, I removed most of it with the same paper towel technique that Phil Flory uses with his Clay based Promodeller washes. Just can't let the oil washes dry completely. Once the washes are dry, I dry brush as needed.
One thing that I will be changing is the use of black as my main panel wash. You can clearly see with all three aircraft that the panel lines are way to dark. I'm going to be using the same color as the base colors, just mixed with grey or black.
