Which of these two planes were used to spearhead the paratroopers during D-day? Is there a kit available in 1/35? Or even paratroopers available in 1/48 and/or 1/72?

To bomb prior to their jumps and invasion, or to drop them off the end of a static line and into Fortress Europa???
The bombers simply softened up the land first, and were spread far and wide and concentrated in a few areas to deceive the Germans as to where the invasion would begin.
The planes the troopers jumped from were Cargo type planes modified for that purpose, and of course the used some gliders to send the Allies into the Fatherland as well.

The closest a B-24 would come to troop dropping, were "Joe" drops.
A black painted Liberator would fly at night to a designted are,and a single or small group of infiltraitors would drop throught the removed ball turret. They would be sent behind the lines to create havoc.

The only large scale Bombers available now is the B-17G in 1/48 scale By Revell monogram, and its a nice kit! The 1/48 B-24 is out of production, but should be re-reliest in the near future. The C-47 cargo plane in 1/48 is also OOP, but some should still be available at retailers. The C-47 comes with 1/48 paratroopers.

Shonen,
Hey DUDE, whats up.
Nether the B-17 or B-24 were used to put paratroopers into Europe.
You want a C-47 Dakota. As you have found this kit is OOP. Therefor you go to Monograms
DC-3 kit in Trans Air mkgs,,,,,,,,,,,which is AKA C-47 and the 1/48 paratroopers are in that kit too.

Only bombers used (as paratroop transports) were Sirlings and Halifaxes. And the stirlings had many converted to glider tugs. No way were B-17s or B-24s used as transports!...Jim
