Hi there Tread

I've got an Italeri AH1-W in 1/35...

I think it's a re-release... it's ok, but the cockpit is way too basic for this scale.

Anyone know of a resin replacement?

All the best

I'm not a helo modeller but I am surprised at how poorly they are represented in 1/35 scale, especailly as it ties in so nicely with the many modern figures available in this scale. I think manufacturers are missing an opportunity here.

Academy also puts out a 1/35 AH-W Cobra. It is a great build working on one as we speak.
revell also has a 1/35 cobra and a AH-64 Apache

Merlin Black box (i think) put out a resin Replacement kit for the Whiskey. It comes with seats instrument panels and alot more even the nose of the helo. It is made for the Academy kit but I am sure it would work for the Italeri one as well. If I can find a pic of one I'll post it here for you.

I agree, not many 1/35 helos out there. Most have been metioned above. Only 35th UH-1D, and N models out there are Panda. They are not that great, but can be made into something great. MRC/Academy also does the UH-1B/C models which are excellent. Academy UH-60 series is also excellent. For resin upgrade kits, go to Cobra Company. They make lots of upgrade sets for most 1/35 and 1/32 scale helos. I hope those Chinooks and Super Jolly Greens come to be. I'm afraid of the prices though.

Academy does the Kiowas 2 versions.
I had troubles with the fit of the glass on mine, mostly due to lack of positive fit to the cockpit parts.

DML/Shanghai Dragon does the little birds

OH6A Viet Nam version w Hugh Mills markings and minigun
AH6J little bird
IDF Tow armed vers
MD500 ?? armed version, not sure who's that is dont have it
and a sherrifs dept vers w sniper fig.

Lets not forget the old Heller Super Frelon in at least 3 vers.
One w 1/35th exocet missile! one w french troops, and one vanilla.

Panda's Huey SLicks are ok, not great, Pantographed up from Italeri 1/48 if rumor is to bel believed. I've got one 90% done, it's ok.

Verlinden does a Whisky cobra cockpit.

Cobra Company does lots of 1/35th upgrades including Littlebird planks.

Trumpeter does a Hip which a friend has built up quite nicely, and has a Hound and Hind -YES!!!- the way in 04.

It's going to be a good year for 1/35th helos..

Thanks for the rotorhead catagory Jim..

Mike
