I will be building a 1:32 Supermarine Spitfire, as a commission piece. The problem is, I have almost no knowledge of airplane manufacturers. Which kit would you recommend? The budget is large, so am parts are a possibility. TIA

The Tamiya Mk.IX in 1/32 is likely the way to go for that mark, and there's a substantial amount of AM available. If it's a Vb your after, then I've seen some great Hobby Boss builds in 1/32. You'll likely find available AM for that one as well.
Good luck!

I agree with Ben Matt. I've completed the Vb Desert Air Force version and it was superb. If I'm not mistaken I documented it in the "Features" section of Aeroscale a year or so ago. Please check it out if you like. It was a great deal for the price. I hope I was helpful. Take care, Jim

Thank you for the speedy replies. I'll look into the Hobby Boss kit.

Be careful with the horizontal tailplane on the HB kit, I recall there is some discrpency for which replacement parts are available aftermarket. Best to read the reviews to make certain

If you can do any Spitfire, I strongly recommend the Tamiya Mk IX/VIII. These are fantastic models. I haven't built the Hobby Boss kit, but I had to stop working on the Tamiya kit so I wouldn't finish too quickly and could savor it. My 2 cents worth.

Admittedly, it's not my first.
Michael: I'll take that into account. But, I'm really liking the HB trop kit.

Hi Matt
You say you've got the budget - then I'd go with Tamiya and add some Barracuda Studios upgrades.
All the best

It's only $89 and the Barracuda parts are fairly inexpensive. I think I will start it, next month.
