Thought this would be an interesting series of shots. I thought I would share it with you all. The AMT/ERTL North American F-100F Super Sabre, in natural metal, painted with Vallejo aluminum; and the Convair F-102A Delta Dagger by Hasegawa, painted with Model Master Acryl Light Ghost Gray. This gray was as close to Air Defense Gray as I could find, I think it works! Take a look. Russell

P.S. Both are 1/72 scale.

Ummm, the Internet isn't kind to your colors. On my screen the F-100 looks gray, just a few shades off of the F-102's gray.

I managed to find an MM enamel that they claimed matched ADC Gray (FS 16473).

It's interesting. In photos the superssbre always looks huge to me and the delta quite wee. But there we see the Convair is clearly bigger. When I got my quarterscale dart I nearly died when I saw how big the thing was.

Russell, two very well built 1/72 jet aircraft. Going to have to agree with Mark that the Aluminum finish on the F100 looks like a lighter shade of Gray. My monitor is color calibrated, so colors are for the most part as you posted them.

I would venture a guess that the problem is your picture processing program, and/or how you edited your pictures. The program converted the aluminum color of the F100 to a shade of gray to more closely match the gray of the F102.

I would suggest that you take a few pictures of each aircraft separately, and post them here. I'm pretty sure that the NMF of the F100 will now look like metal rather then a shade of gray.

I adjusted Russell's pix a bit:

If this Hun has not had TLC aluminum does oxidize a bit towards gray.

That looks a LOT better!

NMF finishes are hard enough without the Internet 'helping"
