Hi all,
The title is a little bit misleading. This is the Eduard Mk.IX transformed into a Mk.VIII and not the regular kit which will maybe appear next year only.
Since I had some left over parts from previous builds, including the test shots I have received at the Nürnberg Toy Fair, I realized that I had an almost complete Eduard Spitfire kit in my hands. Rather than build another Mk.IX, I did a US Mk.VIII. Maybe I shouldn't say this but I always thought that this Spitfire variant looked nicer with deserts scheme and American stars...
Anyway, Only parts I had to find were wing radiators, ailerons, antennas (these came from an ICM kit), retractable tailwheel (Hasegawa kit) and propeller/spinner (resin part from Department of Correction). Of course I had to do some minor changes to the kit to represent a Mk.VIII but this was not a difficult task. I hope I didn't forgot something?
Below is a picture of my Eduard Spitfire collection... so far...

Jean-Luc, just a rock solid build. Paint & decaling really looks good, but the weathering is just near perfect. Has that used but not abused look.
Your 3 Spitfire collection is shaping up nicely.

Spitfire looks awsome in desert scheme, especially with American stars

Very nice work, Jean-Luc. I like how you made the camo look like the British roundels were removed. Very cool and definitely made me look twice.

Hi Jean-Luc
Really nice! (Surprise! Surprise! ). The only suggestion I could offer would be to droop the elevators in the classic Spitfire way.
One thing struck me in your post - it really shows the impact of Eduard's Spitfire that the Hasegawa and ICM kits have been relegated to being spares for kit-bashing fodder at a stroke!
All the best

Hi all,
Thank you for the kind words. The Eduard kit is indeed so good that I have sold all my ICM and Ocidental Mk.IX kits. The Hasegawa I have (in fact a Revell rebox) is still complete since the tailwheel is an optional part. I want to build it one day to see the impact of the short fuselage on the model compared to the Eduard one.
I will take the Spitfires with me in Telford of course. You can't have too many of them...
