I am in the process of doing a build of the 1/48 Special Hobby Firefly Mk 4/5/6 "Foreign Service" as an RAN AS.6. It is not too bad a kit but I have now run into the fun parts:
- the cockpit is not well detailed.
- The fit of the panel under the nose is poor
- The top wing halves need a spacer under them to make them line up with the fuselage.

Your interior looks quite busy, and well used. Fuselage body work looks more then satisfactory. So far I'd say you've got the upper hand, and the build well underway. Looking forward to your next update.

Hello,

Yes, I agree, it looks good...!

Limited run kits are in the hard sidewalk of the modeling...
(I'm still fighting with my Fiat Cr42 from CA)

But, they became very nice finished models, and you are doing very well; keeps on fighting...!!!

It is now put together enough for the undercoat of Mr Surfacer to be applied. The canopies are poor fitting and only the rear one went on well enough.

You're well along in the taming of the beast. It's going to be very interesting watching the final colours go on

Well, I feel she's coming along just fine, David. Not sure why, but the Firefly is among my favorite aircraft as far as looks go. Make sure you post when you've applied some color.

And I see you have a Sea Fury on the go as well. It would be nice if you showcased that one as well.

David, with a coat of primer on, you've beaten back the beast. All your hard work has paid off. Should really look spectacular with a coat of paint.

Looking forward to your next update.

Thanks all, I shall keep up with the updates. I have now given it the first coat of the sky using Humbrol Hu23. At least another coat is required before the gray goes on.

Ben, the Sea Fury is a OOB Hobbycraft kit that I am slapping together to go with the RAN Firefly. I have another one that I may do as a Canadian one to go with my RCN Firefly Mk1 I made a few years ago. I will put up a few images when I get the undercoat on as it is a simple build.

The Firefly is wearing it's first coat of Humbrol 23 Duck Egg Blue whilst the Sea Fury is in Hu 90 Matt Beige Green. I thing the Hu23 is too blue for what I want so I may end up respraying it Hu90.

I have finally completed the model. This is OOB apart from the antenna wire, whip antenna and IFF antenna on the wing.

David, nicely done Firefly. I've followed your duel build from your 1st post, and it's nice to see that both models have been finished, and ready for display. The finished paint and decaling came out very well.

Congrats on a duel build well done.
