Hi Fellow builders
I've just filled a fine seam with a correction fluid ie Tipex.
However you I've applied several thin coats of Tamiya AS20
Insignia white and where I've filled the seam it's still visible under the paint.

The aircraft underside is white.(USN Skyraider)

I guess I should have sealed it first. But am unsure as to what to use.

Any tips

Chris

White is notorious for showing what's underneath it. What you want is a thickish primer coat which you can sand smooth. Mr Surfacer 1000 is good for that.

Chris, when you say the seam is still visible, do you mean that you can still see the depresion, or that it's showing through the white paint?

I always prime with Tamiya Gray Lacquer based Primer applied with an airbrush, not with a rattle can, if there is any green stuff used as filler, and/or if I'm laying down a coat of white, yellow, or red. They just don't look right, nor cover very well over raw plastic or fillers. I've also tried Tamiya White primer over the Gray, but find that those 3 colors are just too bright. More like automotive finishes, just flat.

Jessica,Antoni,Joel.

Thanks for the replies.I discovered my tube of Tamiya putty harder than a hard thing.
With the local hobby store about 45minutes away I wasn't heading there anytime soon.(Lack of car,was stolen back in May).

Cheers

Chris
