I wish to paint the simulated wood panel on a sopwith camel with brushed oil paint over an acrylic base coat.
I've read where some thin the oils and some use it right out of the tube.
Which way is better?
How long should the oil dry (without dryer) before it can be masked with Tamiya tape?
Will turpenoid, an oderless turpentine substitute, used as a thinner, damage the acrylic basecoat?
Any other hints are appreciated.

Hi there

A great starting pint is Erik Larson's Wood Grain Demo.

All the best
