HELP! I've had a little disaster this morning. I have attempted to tint the upper windows in my Sea King's canopy transparency, using Humbrol clear green, which I thinned with cellulose thinners. As soon as I brushed it onto the transparency, it went cloudy, like this:

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong, and more importantly, how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Hello:

WOW...!!! What a Mess...!!!
Thinks happend you now...

I'can not know what you did it wrong...

But, how to fix, I can haelp you on that...

Put the part in a cup, a chipper one (Do not use the expencive czech cristal from your grand mom)...

And Spray the piece with oven clianer foam, the cold formula...

Here I use the "EASY-OFF Zebra" (cold formula) Brand, from Beckitt- Benckiser...

Please, test in a transparent sprue part FIRST...!!! To be sure...

My be necesary a couple (or more) of aplications... Do not desperate and let and allow the product to work...

Let me know, but I did it before with NO problems...

Diego

P/D: You can use remove painters from Mr. Hobby also...

Yes oven cleaner works good. May need a few applications to remove all the paint.

If you can get it clear maybe I can help. I built a Loach OH-6 that had green transparent panels, I got a clear green that went on great. I will look tomorrow. Also used it on a huey slick. Wish me luck finding the clear green

The cellulose thinners has attacked the plastic and I will be very surprised if it can be recovered, sorry for the negative comment.

If you want to tint something that is clear plastic use Tamiya clear colours or food colouring mixed with Klear.

Thanks for the replies, but I finished that chopper months ago. In the end, I sanded the mess out, wet and dry sanded through many different grits to get it back to clear, uses a polishing sponge to shine it up, and then tinted it green with Tamiya clear green.

I can see it is rather late but I use green illustration marker (ZIG or Letraset, Copic would probably do too) on these occasions from the inside. Safe and quick. Worths a try.
