Hi all, I need some help.
I have a decal that shows up absolutely nowhere on my instructions and hope somebody might be able to tell me where it is supposed to go or if I don't need it at all.
I am putting together the Tamiya 1/48th F4U-1 Bird Cage Corsair. For anyone who has done the same kit or has this kit , it is decal No. 26. There are three of these No.26 decals. I had to use a magnifier to read the decal so here is a description of it for anyone who doesn't have the kit but might know the aircraft really well.
The overall decal is a small rectangle and all the letters are in yellow with a clear background.
A few of the actual numbers might not be quite right because they are pretty hard to read even with magnification.

DWG.NO J6487 A-20
SERIAL NO 321317
LOW PITCH 24
HIGH PITCH 68

I know that kits come with different parts and decals for different versions of the same craft but this decal does not show up anywhere on my instructions for any version of any aircraft. I even had my wife look at the instructions thinking that she would probably look at it for two seconds and say "There it is" but even she couldn't find it.
Does anyone have any knowledge of where these decals is supposed to go.

Other than this decal the corsair is coming along GREAT! I'll probably have some pics of it before too much longer.
Good modeling and thanks everyone,
Wayne

Hi Wayne

They look like propellor data... I can't find any clear photos to confirm this, but I would guess they should be placed between decals no.21 and the hub.

Hope this helps

O.K. Master Sergeant now this is just a guess, but I think there for the propeller. I say this because there are three of them, and the propeller pitches.
I would wait for conformation.

:-) Yes they go on the propellor blades. Not being sure exactly where, but Rowan is correct, between the hub and decals 21, I left them off my F4U-1 :-) cos I wasn't sure it even had them.

One of the books produced during the war has a picture of a whole wall of completed props for the F4u. Of course, I can't put my hands on it right now or remember the title, but I remember the picture. If I find it soon I will let you know. I just hope I did not send it on to Goodwill during one of those moving "purges" that happens in that other life we lead.
