Michael, Your review was honest and forthright. Well done.
I purchased the Vought F4U Corsair book, hoping that many of the detail photographs would further my collection of detailed photographs as I continue to build 1 or 2 1/48 scale Corsairs per year. My book arrived a few days ago.
My 1st go through brought the realization that the book, while a wealth of information on the Corsair, is not aimed at the modeler. This is a well written and documented Monograph on the Corsair that targets the WW11 aircraft enthusiast. There is one excellent picture of the wing folding mechanism, and one of the oil tank. Several of the drop tanks and bombs racks and straps, flying surfaces, wheel doors, but not the wheel wells, dozens of different aircraft. Yet there is not one picture of the cockpit, side consols, instrument panel, engine, machine guns, wiring, plumbing, etc.
While I'm glad that I bought the monograph, it hasn't advanced my modeling knowledge, which is what I was hoping for.
