Every time that I view a series of pictures, they open up in a box with a forward and backward arrows. Unfortunately, the box is much smaller then my screen. I would love to be able to view all these pictures in a larger window. Is there a way to accomplish this? My OS is win 8.1
Thanks,
Joel

Hi Joel
Our content pictures have traditionally been optimised at around 800 px wide to allow for viewers with slow Internet connections, but the size is creeping up as speeds improve everywhere. It'll be something I can discuss with Jim when he gets home from his vacation, as it could well be that the time has come to increase the standard size for future photos.
Till then, you can probably zoom-in your browser (most allow you to) - but, assuming you're viewing the shots currently at 100%, you won't get any extra detail - they'll just be larger and a bit softer.
All the best
Rowan

Rowan, once again thanks for the timely reply. I've used the zoom in option on my browser, but as you said, the pictures not only get larger (the whole page does), but the sharpness drastically decreases.
I certainly agree with you that the time has come for an upgrade in the default resolution settings. Most sites today default to a min of 1024x768. My screen is currently set to 1600x900, which is it's max and its default settings.
thanks,
Joel

I created a mock-up of an image at 1500X1125 but when I posted it the forum software automatically converted it to 800 X 600. To see it at its original size, click here.

Maybe this is a good source?
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp
Would it not be better to request pictures in high resolution, store these, and make (automated) reduced size versions for display?
If screen sizes improve then a new batch of higher resolution pictures could be made starting from the originals; It woudl prevent that the older articles on the site look outdated.
