Greetings all.
Well I finally cleared my backlog and now can start on my KoTSIII build, SMER (ex Heller) Amiot 143 OOB.
The Amiot 143 made its first flight on the 01 Aug 1934 but didn't actually enter service until a few years later. The 143 is basically a re-engined 140 and was obsolete before it entered service.
During WW2 they had relatively low losses as most of their raids were carried out at night, but a notable exception was a daylight raid by 10 Amiots from GBs I/34, II/34 and II/38 led by Commandant de Laubier against German bridgeheads near Sedan on 14 May 1940. Despite fighter escort, two Amiots were shot down while a third force-landed before reaching its base.
Anyway, it is off to the hobby room to examine the kit. I used to like Heller kits back in the 1970s and 1980s. Lets see how they fare today.
Cheers
Warren

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose.. The French seemed to have a knack of building ugly aircraft in that era..
