Hi. Would anyone know if the Flettner was fabric covered, or a metal skin, and if the framework was steel or aluminum?
Reason being, how to weather and/or chip the model.

Most of it was fabric covered with some metal panels around the engine. Here's one
undressed. The semi-curcular panels just behind the pilot seem to be the only metal skin it had.

Hi Jessie

Is the forward framework made of aluminum tubing? - your pic looks like it might be. So it looks like any scratching and chipping (except where there is wood) would be bare aluminum.

Wait a minute! Is this an original Flettner, or a modern build with alternate materials?

To the best of my knowledge it's all aluminium tube and that's an original undergoing restoration. Chipping would show the undercoat or the fabric. If the wear got down to the framework it wouldn't be airworthy anymore so I doubt that you'd ever see that, especially given the relatively short operational lifespan.
