Hi folks, I'm continuing on my Mustang Spree but after several 1/48th Mustangs I'm shifting to some 1:72nd. Santa is bringing me the new RS 1/72nd P-51 H. How different is the H's cockpit from a D's? I have an Eduardo color cockpit set for a D and I'm wondering if I can use it for the H?

The cockpit on the 'H' was modified to make it more comfortable for the pilot on long duration flights. E.g., the seat and stick were closer together to help with arm fatigue and the flight and engine instruments were separated to make scanning easier. The first three photos are of the cockpit mockup, some of the placards etc are not appropriate to the 'H'. The last two are of 44-64160.

Thanks! Those are great shots! The cockpit is quite a bit different, too different even in 1/72nd to use anything from the D. It's funny, all the pilots I've spoken with who flew the D said that the cockpit was perfectly laid out. I guess that North American found a way to improve on perfection.

If you can wait a bit Brengun may issue a PE set for the kit, they often do for RS, Sword, Fly etc.

Thanks. I can always build one stock for the USAAF and then another for the USAF.
