Hi there
Rather than do my usual Review, I'm going to stick my neck out and start the New Year with a build! Something a bit unusual (certainly for me!) to get the modelling juices flowing - Attack Squadron's mixed-media kit of the Fire Scout drone helicopter.
The kit is beautifully produced, with a mix of resin, etch - and something I've not encountered before... a 3-D printed component. Plus, of course, decals - with marking for 4 x colour schemes.
I've started cutting resin tonight, so I'm calling this the official start of my first build in far too long!
All the best

Hi Ben
3-D printing is an area that's on the cusp of being a revolution in modelling. In this kit it's the item (rotor head) top-right in the third picture, produced by building up thin layers of plastic from a CAD file. The technique is widely used these days for producing masters (and is widely touted as being the future for scratchbuilders once domestic 3-D printers (such as the MakerBot) can consistently produce high enough resolution parts).
Attack Squadron is unique (in my experience) in including a directly 3-D printed part in a kit, so I'm really excited to try the new technology.

Thanks, Rowan. Sounds like really cool process that might even keep the worst rivit counters infinitely happy.

Hi again
Fear not - breaking the habit of a lifetime, I haven't given up already! Work permitting, I'm doing a little in the background, so I should have an update soon...

I rarely post anything here, just lurking the Aeroscale from time to time. I will be following this one for sure... these UAVs have some strange appeal for me too.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is that a Decepticon (Transformers) logo on the decal sheet?

Great looking kit and machine! Will follow this for sure. See if I can get my hands on one these.
