Hi,
Having watched the dreadful footage on the news of the crashed Pave Hawk, there are pictures of the second aircraft in what appears to be a dark green colour. I have looked at several threads on the internet regarding paint schemes but most of these are a few years old. Can anyone tell me what is the most up to date colour scheme for the pave Hawks, in the UK as it has inspired me to build mine out of the stash.
Thanks
Toby

The current color is called AFSOC Gray. The closest model color is Testors Model Master Gunship Gray.
RAF Lakenheath, England stationed MH-60G, identicle to the one that went down.

Thanks Gino. What is the predominant armament on the MH-60 birds?? Would it by the GAU-2 minigun, 0.50cal or 7.62mm M240???

It seems to be either a mix of GAU-16 and GUA-2 or the same type on both sides. Most have the external gun mounts now as well. A correction, they are all HH-60Gs now since they fall under Air Combat Command and are all used for CSAR.

I've just been looking at that, but I'm debating whether to get the Live Resin GAU-2 guns as they look awesome!!

Are the two flare launchers usually fitted on the tail when deployed?
Thanks, Toby

Yes, there are usually six total; two per side (1 flare, 1 chaff) on the tail, and one flare per side up front on the step-fairing by the pilots' doors.

One other question Gino, I'm assuming that there is no facility to change the magazines for the door guns as they are on the outside?? I would guess that there is sufficient ammo for one sortie which would be replaced when the aircraft landed?? Would any spare ammo be carried in the cabin or would that be solely for troops?? Thanks.

You are correct. There may be a few ammo cans inside for the Pararescuemens' small arms, but not many. They basically load up for bear before taking off from base. Remember, the aircraft are used for Combat Search And Rescue (CSAR) and interior space is a premium. They try to only carry what is needed to leave as much space for patients as possible. The interior of an H-60 Hawk may look big, but gets crowded very quickly with a couple PJs, a flight medic, the crew chief, rescue hoist, AUX fuel tanks, litters, medical gear bags, etc., etc...
You can see how crowded they can get on my HH-60G model from Iraq. It doesn't have teh gunners' seats either, just 40mm ammo cans for them to sit on.
And the real thing that I tried to emulate, just a little crowded.
