Dubbed the Eagles of Duxford, the 78th Fighter Group served along side the 4th and 56th Fighter Groups in the long range escort missions over Germany. Osprey has released a title looking at their aces and history.

An interesting book. Image 4, above, is a fascinating photo showing that not everybody jumped at a P-51.

Thanks, Fred. That's my favorite photo, though I am personally biased towards the P-47. Who wouldn't resist change, especially if you have something proven that you can trust with your life. Look at us when paints or glue are discontinued.

I visited the IWM at Duxford last fall, and would love to know more about its role during WW2. Thanks for the review!
