Good friend of mine went to local HL to check out sale. Saw the new 1:32 Academy F-18 on display in front of store. The new one with the metal landing struts and rubber tires, etc. Asked the clerk for a price since it was unmarked. She called for a price check and told him it was $14.95. He asked it that was before or after sale. She told him after sale discount would be $7.50 !!! For a $100 model ! He was doing the happy dance all the way home !!
He figures when the sales person went to check for a price, she took the first F-18 she saw and got the price off of it.

I had the same story 1 year ago in a toys 'r'us: there was a 2m high column of b1b 1/48th scale around christmas but the price was the one of the 1/144th models; around 10usd!!
two or three phone calls to modellers chaps and they were out of stock till the end of the year. 2 or 3 months after i went back to this shop ( not for models but for my 7years old daughter) and the owner told me that facing the success of this model he will order a new stock twice the first one. i smiled and i told him before ordering that check the price....

I had a similar experience at a local Hobby Lobby, the clerk thought the price tag on a 1/35 King Tiger kit said "$4.99"--she didnt see the 5 in front of the 4. I corrected her however and used a 50% off coupon to get the kit for $25-- so it was still a deal. But imagine a 54 dollar kit for 2.50 after a half off coupon! #:-)
