Yesterday, an ethiopian Boeing was hijacked while flying over Swiss airspace. It was soon intercepted by French and Italian jets (as is usually the case with a hijacked plane).
The Swiss Air Force itself was NOT available because that "force" only works during office hours; from 08.00h until 12.00h and from 13.30h until 17.00h.
I suppose that hijackers will now be requested to respect the core hours of the Swiss Air Force and refrain from any actions until convenient.

Of course, and summer holidays, and probably a stop for wintersports as well.

certainly would be a very interesting way to fight a war. We don't even have those hours at work.

That's what happens if politicians keep cutting the budget... Next will be the question of whether we will replace our old F-5 Tiger II with the Saab Gripen. If that goes down the drain all that's left are 32 F-18s. 24/7 readiness will be impossible then anyway...

This happened at Possum Lodge too:
Red Green: Well, I'm not gonna be calling the U.S. Air Force, Harold. What do I say? We've got a missile? They take that as a threat, we're in real trouble.
Harold Green: Well, then, contact the Canadian Air Force.
Red Green: Harold, it's after six; he's gone home.
