How difficult can it be to find an on-line shop in Canada that carries Eduard aircraft? All I find is RC...RC...and more RC! And sometimes model RR. Can any Canadian members help me out?

have you tried Scott out at Elm City? He can usually order most stuff in.

Here's the thing...I'm looking for a well stocked store which has what I want so that when I order from within Canada I can expect my order within the week (usually). If the store doesn't have it and has to order it, or if I order from US, I may as well order myself from Eduard. Either way it will take at least a month.

If you are looking for quicker, I normally order from Sprue Brothers or Lucky Model, if they have in stock, it usually arrives within two weeks for me.

Try Wheels &Wings in Toronto,
I have had good service from them and if you can get to the store they have a basement full of old kits and on the main floor well stocked with new stuff.

I too am interested in a Canadian store that has wide selection and decent shipping costs(realizing that CP is the greastest enemy).
In the past 3 weeks, I've purchased 10 kits, all mail order on the same day.
1 from Japan(ludicrous shipping)
3 from Hong Kong
4 from Edmonton, Alberta.
2 from England
Oddly, the Asian packages arrived first, followed by England, and finally Alberta. Guess airmail works better than donkey!

I had to shop at these different stores to achieve a price/selection/shipping ratio that I was happy with. The fact remains, I would like to see a one stop LHS in Canada, and this has certainly been the topic of other threads. However, I have failed to locate one to this date.

A successful businessman once told me, 'Don't sell clothes or open a restaurant. Find a void, and fill it'.

It's sad. In Montreal we have only two really good LHS's - Hobby Junction, and Udisco. They can order what you want, but if the distributor also doesn't have it (usually Squadron), then you have to wait even longer. Driving out of the province is counter-productive as the high cost of gasoline (today - 1.46CAN/liter) adds a couple of hundred bucks to a $30 kit - not an option. As a matter of fact, I did an eBay search and was astounded - the same Eduard Week-end edition kit I bought at Hobby Junction (Montreal) for under $20 was selling for $30 USD, plus a further $35 for shipping!! The balls!!! I was going to order from Eduard, but they charge $19 USD to Canada and US. I really wanted this kit, but not that badly. I'll just have to wait. "All good things come to those that wait", (unless you die of old age first! )

What we really need in Canada is somebody like Sprue Brothers in the states, fully stocked, real time inventory, and reasonable prices.

I always look for Canadian supplier first, but 90% of the time due to availability and/or price I end up ordering from Lucky Model, or Sprue Brother, or Hobby Easy.

I used to order from Squardron, but they have increased their shipping rates to a ridiculous price, so I have stopped dealing with them.

I just checked out Sprue Brothers. They have an easy to navigate site and very large inventory. And they have what I want in stock at a reasonable price. Plus you can calculate total cost including shipping without having to register, or log in.

I just did a quick comparison between Sprue Brothers and Squadron. The kit I'm looking for (Eduard 1/48 Fokker Dr1 combo kit), including shipping to Canada, is USD 47.74 from Sprue Brothers, as opposed to USD 70. from Squadron (less exchange). Am I missing something here? Is Sprue Brothers really that reasonable, or is Squadron just a big rip-off when it comes to shipping? Looks like I might order from Sprue Brothers. Any good or bad feed-back about them?

Pop quiz - how can Eduard put two complete 1/48 kits, with PE and masks, in one box for so little. Cheaper than some companies have for a single kit. And better quality than most other brands. Is the packaging more expensive than the contents?

Quite often this is the case. Witness Airfix kits which have been re-re-re-re-re-issued since the dawn of time. The moulds have been paid for several times over by now, and the actual plastic costs only a few pennies, yet the kit sells for the same amount as a newly issued kit. The cardboard, printing, decals, packing and distribution all add their costs, and they don't change no matter how much plastic goes into the box at packing time.

Been dealing with Sprue Brothers for a long time, never had an issue. And when it comes to Squadron, yes the shipping is a rip off, they are charging by the dollar amount, instead of weight and size. As mention I am no longer doing business with Squadron, and even when I buy something at the local hobby store and they have to order from Squadron, I will not place the order.

Unfortunately, Squadron is no longer the store for modellers run by modellers. Its the store run by greedy, selfish, don't want my business store.

That's OK with me. I started shopping elsewhere some time ago, and deleted them off my email list.

I do hope they read this, since they don't want to answer my emails. Goodbye!!! Wheres the finger icon?
