A very detailed report Santa-Luc, thanks for taking the time to put this together. The Revell Spitfire MkII the MPM I.A.R 80/81 and the HK models Gloster Meteor, in 1/32 are what I have been looking forward to and in in 1/24 scale the magnificent Hawker Typhoon

I have to admit though that most of this year's line-up is more a case of "interesting" than "*******!!!!!!" for me. There are a couple of items that certainly caught my eye - undoubtedly the same ones as you - well, we always say we're twins!

It's amazing that, this year of all years, WW1 wasn't more prominent at the show. We can hardly escape it on TV in the UK at the moment, so I guess the first "world" war is anything but in terms of worldwide marketing...

You had me worried with one remark: "Our stashes sure won't diminish anytime soon!" - That's just as I'm finally beginning to make good on my promised to start building again, not adding!

as for WW1. I think J-L has a blind side on anything (or everything) not 48 scale.

There are the nice MB 72 scale Lozenge-Tanks and figure sets from several companies in 35 scale. Also it is very prominent in the Eduard catalogue. The SSW is new and news will come out over the coming years (august 1914 only marked the start of ww1).

in general: Nuremberg only marks the start of the modelling year. The Japanese companies have two more shows to present news, in Shizuoka and Tokio. BTW I do not think Hasegawas Camel was their last adventure in that scale and theme (and their news schedule was pretty slim).

Also the Chinese Companies seem to have a strong competition among each other. I have to admit that I do not fully understand which of them are connected. But this leads to some companies only publish news when the kit is ready.

OTOH I also do not see that "Hammer news" but I am looking forward to the 48 scale Bf 109G, Do 215, Tornado and some other stuff. IMHO this "lack of news" might be a problem of customers having all and everything and waiting for their personal "Fairley Fruitbat Mk.Ic beta testing"...

Jean-Luc Formery, thanks so much for taking the time to write this very detailed summation of the toy fair, and to Jessica for her usual excellent editing job.

I've found more then just a few new releases in 1/48 scale to keep me checking the new items and arrivals at my two online resources. Here's my top 5:

I forgot to say, I'm also really looking forward to the ICM Do 215 - I can't understand the "What? Never heard of it..." reaction from some quarters (of course, the very same who complain about the "same old, same old" in their next breathe!). It looks absolutely superb. I'll be buying it - and its more famous stablemates that will undoubtedly follow.
