This site has some truly amazing contributions and wonderful creations. I hope to share with you my very first diorama creation. It still requires much work to bring it up to the standard I have seen here.

However, I am hoping a different approach to the presentational style will enhance the diorama and improve what would be ordinary still pictures of a not so aesthetic diorama.

Evie Air Base is a fictitious NATO base set in the countryside, realised in 1:144 scale. I had to truncate the runway due to lack of space. This photo-story video series is of Evie's first Air Show. I hope my 'daring to be different' approach to presentation is tolerated here.

Okay so here I go with what you could describe as the first ever diorama Air Show. Hopefully frequent Air Show attendees will relate and I hope to capture just a fragment of the real experience. Always a challenge in 1:144

Part 1:
Early Air Show morning. Barriers in place signify no on site parking on Air Show day. Guests struggle to find a legitimate street parking space as guests arrive from far and wide

Part 2:
The guests are thrilled with the opening display. It is the RAF's Eurofighter Typhoon in its all black prototype livery. Eurofighter Typhoon, built by a consortium of 3 companies- Alenia Aeronautical, BAE Systems and EADS working through the holding company Eurofighter GMbH. The canard delta wing jet entered service with the British Royal Air Force, the German Luftwaffe, the Italian, Spanish and Austrian Air Forces. What an opening display!

Part 3:
The Eurofighter concluded its display. Next up was the Grumman E-2 Hawkeye. A twin engine turboprop designed and developed for the US Navy. Over the years it earned the name "Hummer" due to the distinctive sound from the turboprops. Serving as an Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft, usually with Carrier based sea launches. But it was what was to follow the E-2 that was to prove more of a crowd pleaser

Part 3
So the Evie Air Show is now in full swing. The inverted runway pass at the end of the Tornado display was impressive but the crowd waited in anticipation for something more thrilling...Suddenly the loudest roar was heard as they counted one...two...three...no...seven F/A 18 Hornet and Super Hornet jets in tight formation approaching fast and climbing. What a sight.
(Editor's Note: This particular set of scenes was a royal pain in the @%#!% to shoot...enjoy)

Part 5:
The avid air show visitors amongst you will know that every air show has that quiet period around mid-day when aerial displays are paused and the crowd are invited to mingle and get up close and personal with static displays in surrounding areas. At Evie we are at that point otherwise called the Interval. Hopefully the sights and sounds together with the mellow music reflects the mood and the crowd are out and about taking it all in so why not join them.

Part 6:
Here in Part 6 we are still very much in the Interval. This time the crowd get to see up close, a massive restoration project where not one but three V-Force Bombers are on display. Britain's answer to the Cold War Nuclear Threat. These formidable birds were Britain's show of pioneering aviation, strength and deterrence. Evie are proud to be the first modern day air show ever to host all three of these wonderful aircraft. Formidable today as they were all those years ago.

But we suddenly find out that all does not go as was originally planned...

Part 7:
The Interval had just concluded and the crowed were just getting ready to witness history being made with all three restored V-Force Bombers take to the skies. But suddenly we witnessed what appeared to be a serious security breach when an unknown white van gained unauthorised access to the runway halting the huge V-Force bombers in their tracks much to the crowd's displeasure.

Nothing was to prepare us for the unsightly display that was to follow...

Part 8:
So once law enforcement had cleared the airfield of the disruptive PEACE PLANET protesters, we finally get to see history in the making. All three fully restored V-Force Bombers line up to take to the skies. This remarkable group of aircraft formed the frontline of British Nuclear delivery capability. They were remarkable then and as the showcase of today's show are still remarkable now. Never seen in flight together at any modern show ever,

So sit back, TURN UP THE VOLUME TO MAX and enjoy this grand, historic display of military might.

Part 9
Here we see the amazing carrier based Grumman A-6 Intruder thrilling the crowd and touching down. This is followed by a dual display rarely seen at any air show. Old meets new, history aligns with future, yesterday flirts with today. An aviation time tunnel brings two aircraft so different in design but equally unique and advanced for their own time. Savour this aviation rarity. This display was set to truly impress the crowd

Part 10
This is the grand finale of the show as the crowd are thrilled to one of the NATO's finest fighter attack aircraft. The jet performs low level aerial skills showing agility and manoeuvrability. Look out for the sequenced loop-the-loop! But as all good things come to an end this is the final display of the day...but maybe not quite the end for a few exceedingly lucky guests.

Ladies and Gentlemen we present the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle

Part 11:
As this series draws to a close in this penultimate episode, the Air Show has ended but there is suddenly a buzz of excitement on the base as departing guests check their Prize Draw tickets, Winners scream with delight, losers commiserate and board the coaches home. Suddenly security is stepped up and a heavy army and police presence appears...but whatever all this is for nobody seems to be saying...

Part 12:
Alas, this is the final episode of this 12-part photo story video series. In the Evie Air Show final part we see a select few lucky Prize Draw winning ticket holders who were escorted to the far end of the runway under tight security for a private viewing prize. The guests had no idea what amazing scenes they were about to behold. Sit back, turn up the sound and join them in this amazing experience. Please enjoy the final episode...
