Before you get too far with those engines you'll need to do a spot of converting. That looks as though the kit gives you the very early CF-6 engines as used on the first DC-10 10 series aircraft. They're distinguished by the vertical splitter plates on the exhaust cones such as on this aircraft. Canadian's fleet were all the later -30 variant with the centreline gear and engine exhaust cones without the splitter plate.

thats a big model! I compute almost 20 inches long and 18 inches wingtip to wingtip. It will need a room of its own...

Yes, it should lean slightly forward. The wheels ought to line up with the main gear legs. Think of the mechanics of what happens at rotation; the rotation axis ought to turn about the centre main gear, and the two wing gears pivot at the joint between the gear legs and the horizontal beams joining the fore and aft axles together.

Well iv got the wings on and done a bit of pre-shading on them . Also iv sanded and filled the seam on the top of the fuselage ..
 photo 2014-02-28210839_zps8fe8e76a.jpg

I then put a thin coat of white on the fuselage and pre-shaded that ready for the main white coat

Iv been busy with the DC10 and have got quite a lot done , The tail was pre-shaded and then painted pacific blue and the fuselage got a nice coat of white ..

After it was all dry i masked of the top half of the fuselage and the wings ready for the blue .. the green line you can see is flexible fine line mask..

 photo 2014-03-10201053_zps6f9b3556.jpg

The blue was then sprayed on and left to dry i also took this time to spary the engines as well ...

The next day came the moment of truth and with a degree of nervousness the masks were removed ..

The "White" was more of a beige very similar to British Airways Landor colours. I don't know whether it's too late to correct that.

Dave,
An impressive build for sure. Clean, neat, and those Kristal Kleer windows came out perfect. I really like how your pre-shading turned out, as you kept it strictly within the recessed panel lines.

My only suggestion is to work on your photography post processing, as all your pictures are under exposed, and they could use a little more contrast. I tried to clean up one picture to give you an idea of what to look for. I'm not use to working with JPEG files as they're really limited in their ability to be edited.

Joel
