How does this look?
An interceptor is an aircraft whose job it is to launch and climb quickly to stop enemy bombers before they can drop their load on territory the interceptor is protecting. Originally normal fighter aircraft were modified to do this job, particularly in WWI over Britain. Later, as bomb loads became more destructive, airplanes were designed around the need to meet enemy bombers as far out as possible and led to the single role aircraft of the cold war.
According to Wikipedia:
An interceptor aircraft, or simply interceptor, is a type of fighter aircraft designed specifically to prevent successful missions by enemy aircraft, particularly bombers and reconnaissance aircraft. There are generally two classes of interceptors, light aircraft built for outright performance, and heavier aircraft designed to fly at night or in heavy weather and operate over longer ranges.
For daytime missions, conventional fighters normally fill the interceptor role, as well as many other missions. Daytime interceptors have been used in the defensive role since the First World War, but are best known during several major actions during World War II, notably the Battle of Britain
Night fighters and bomber destroyers are, by definition, interceptors of the heavy type, although they were rarely referred to this way at first. In the early Cold War era the combination of jet powered bombers and the atom bomb created a demand for highly capable interceptors, and it is during this period that the term is most used.
Any of these types would be acceptable in this campaign as long as the model is depicted as it appeared in this role.
Rules:
1. Entry must be a dedicated interceptor aircraft as defined above, though not necessarily designed as an interceptor as long as it was deliberately put in that role. If the aircraft type performed other roles, the model must be depicted in the configuration and colors of an interceptor.
2. Can be an aircraft from any era or nation as long as it fits the definition.
3. No what-ifs.
4. Any scale; stand-alones, vignettes, dioramas OK.
5. ampaign will run from 7/1/15 – 12/31/15.
6. Enter as many as you like but each modeler will only get one ribbon.
7. Models must be unstarted at beginning of campaign and finished at the end.
8. At least one in progress shot (but hopefully more) of each model should be posted in the campaign thread and at least one finished shot (but hopefully more) in the campaign gallery.
9. Defend your territory; and have fun!
