I have just begun building my 1/48 Aurora Gotha bomber that I bought about 20+ years ago and guess what? The kit decals are shot. I am going to attempt to build it with the markings that are shown in the Squadron Signal in action book; the one with the green snake on the side. Does anyone make German WWI national markings in a size that would be appropriate for this kit? I have tried Squadron and E-bay and so far nothing. If nothing else I am going to attempt to do it with stencils and hand paint the markings. I have never tried that before so we"ll see how it goes....................... (:-)

tazz,
If the 1/72 kit you passed up is one of the Roden series of Gothas, I'll certainly say that it's a nice kit. Detail is great, many options for markings ... the toughest part will be to rig the beast.

Boiler, go to http://home.sprintmail.com/~tbittners/AG/index.html
this is a computer converted catalog for Americal-Gryphon Decals. A-G doesn't have a website (they"re a small cottage firm in Houston, TX), but when it comes to WWI decals, they can't be beat. They have both National insignia in 1/48 and several sheets of Gotha markings. They're a little pricey, but well worth it. If I were doing the Gotha, (and I've got one, somewhere) I'd trash the kit 'cals even if they were useable, and go with A-G. Do you have the Fine Scale Modeler article on accurizing/detailing the Aurora Gotha? If not , LMK, and I'll try to dig it up for you. Regards, Rob
