I recently visited the Hawking Battle of Britain Museum near Folkestone and was pleasantly surprised to see among all the other relics parts of a Gotha G.IV.
In one hangar, tucked away in a corner behind a Harvard and several full scale replica Spitfires and Hurricanes, was one engine nacelle and a section of wing. And in another hanger was a good section of its fuselage.
Try as I might I could find no information in the museum about it or if any other parts are squirreled away.
Does anyone know if it's a real, genuine WW1 Gotha or a later reproduction? If it is a repro, its a VERY good one!
Unfortunately photography is not permitted in the museum grounds (even mobile phones are banned from the site), so I'm unable to post pictures that any Gotha experts can look for clues as to its origins.
Cheers
