Hello,

I was looking at a 1/48 kit of the Grumman J2F-2 Duck. Its made by Glencoe Models? I have never heard of them, but I an new to aircraft.

Will this kit be accurate, decent quality, and somewhat easy to build?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Spence

Glencoe kits are reboxed models from the dawn of time. In the case of the Duck, it's the old Ideal Toy Company's box scale (~1/54) kit. Here's a look inside the box. For your questions, the answer is sadly, none of the above.

A more accurate (and true 1.48 scale kit) is the Classic Airframes Duck. It's available in the early or late versions (as seen in Murphy's War). It's accurate and decent quality, but being a biplane short-run kit it's not easy to build. It's also long out of production, so you'd need to resort to Evil-bay or swap meets to find one these days.
