Making bulged doors on a 1:72 F-16.

Since my hopes to find any resin sets of bulged MLG doors for Revells F-16 in 1:72 seems to be a lost cause I'm thinking about creating the bulges with putty.

So, good people of KMN - has anyone here tried this? Finding good pictures of the doors is hard. All tips and tricks are most welcome!
