Hi all,
What reduction percentage would I need to use to convert a set of 1/48 plans to 1/72? Hopefully I can do this on a copier or scanner.
Just gotten a copy of Aeronaut Books 'German Armoured Warplanes of WW1' to help with a 1/72 vacform Albatros J1 kit. It has some great plans of the AEG J1/J2, Alb J1/J2 and Junkers J1 but all at 1/48.
Thanks
Stephen

You need to multiply the size by 48 and divide by 72 which gives 0.6666666666667

So is that a reduction of 66%?
Thanks

It's not a reduction of 66%. That's taking off two-thirds. It's a reduction of 33% or, more helpfully, multiplying by 0.66 so that the copy will be 66% the size of the original. So bung 66% into your copier as your ratio and you'll be away. Although if you can use 66.7% your copy will be a bit nearer true 1:72.

Of course, yeah the numbers are the other way the other way round.
Well, I was able to scan and reduce the plans plans yesterday and I've measured them against the kit parts (span of upper and lower wings, fuselage length etc..) and they turned out spot on. So using them I will be able to get the measurements I need make up all the struts and other bits and align everything up neatly. Fortunately the spares from a couple of Roden Albatross D.II/III's will come to the rescue in providing some essential parts.
Incidently, it's a great book for anyone interested in some of the lesser known WW1 types.
Thanks again for the advice guys.

Cool, I've saved both of those in my bookmarks. I can see some of those printables being useful in dioramas.
