Every once in a while, Kostas puts down his ship models to give Aeroscale members a treat. Here is a chilly little vignette of the Trumpeter MiG-3 in a typically Russian scene involving copious amounts of mud and snow.

Why are things dirty and muddy so appealing to me? I don't know, they just are. This is over the top beautiful!!!

Any reason why both ailerons are drooped down?

You read the part where Kostas says "the mistake I'll leave to the experts to spot"?
Personally I think that Ivan Ivanovich needs to spend some time in the Gulag for rigging the ailerons incorrectly but that's uncharitable. It could be battle damage.

I assumed the deliberate error was something more detailed that droopy ailerons. Battle damage? No holes in the wings anywhere to cut the cables or rods so I ruled that out. The MiG 3 would have been a very tricky beast to land with zip or only 1 aileron.

Just an amazing paint and weathering effort. I'm quite sure that your friend was more then satisfied with the finished model.
