An easy way to post a pic in your post when the image is in your gallery is to use the
[img] button on the bottom right, Like so :
Click on the pic in your gallery
Right click on your pic and go to 'Properties.'
Copy that URL (this is the address to the picture itself)
then go to your forum post and use the [img] button,
paste the copied picture URL into the tag generated by the [img] button
this will allow you post like some of the Forum posts youve seen where the picture of your kits are inside your posts
Keep up the nice work on the kits!!!

The bulldog looks real good.
Definately want to see pics after you get it painted. Do you know yet what paint scheme or colors you are going to go with for the main fuselage?
Good Modeling,
Wayne

the bulldog looks very nice, is it the airfix kit? also have you thought about the rigging? thats possibly the most fiddly job going on a biplane, but will finish it off nicely

Nice job, I'am also wondering what kit it was built from. Will be waiting to see your finished paint job.

Looks pretty good so far. The wings look straight and the struts look clean. Those, in my opinion, are some of the hardest things to do on a biplane. Please keep us posted on your progress.

:-) Wow very nice, like Tin Can says hardest part of any bi-plane is to get the wings and struts aligned correctly. You have done a wonderful job. It should look stunning in a silver finish, are you going to hand brush the finish? If you are, just a tip, which your dad may know but it's worth repeating. For any metalic paint, don't use it straight out of the tin, don't even stir it. Get a piece of scrap plastic (a lid off a margarine tub, washed, is fine) and transfer some paint (a brush handle works for this) to the card. Thin with either white spirit (or thinner of your choice) or the varnish "carrier" still at the top of the tin. You will find that by using this method you can easily control the consistancy of the paint (add thinner as necessary) and the paint will go on far better. In fact I never use paint directly out of the tin :-)
I might have something on the bulldog, I'll see if I can find out the colour of the prop for you.

Believe the prop was a wood Watts, probably clear varnished (but may have been covered in grey doped cloth; I can't find any color pics). Some squadrons had the hub portion painted in flight colors. Hth, Rob

:-) I've not been able to find anything on the Bulldog, but other souces suggest similar to what Rob says. Grey prop with copper leading edges, boss could be varnished wood.

hello everybody
thankyou for your help :-)
please could you tell me what part of the propeller is the boss and hub? hehe not sure what those are, my dads unsure too. thanks for helping with the colours, i will probably go with the varnishd type, not the unit colours.
bye for now

Alpha-Sohn-Eins, Kinda hard to describe what the hub & boss are, especially on a wood prop that was carved to a shape that anticipated spinners and metal propellers. On the Bulldog prop, the hub is the round tapered (back to front) portion. The boss is the separate cone-shaped tip made of metal. Send me ( [email protected]) ur e-mail address and I'll send you some pictures to illustrate what I mean. Question: have you permanently attached the top wing? I only ask because (if not) it would make painting your kite a lot easier. I've built the Airfix Bulldog, and the kit is a Honey. The only better (BIGGER) kit is the old 1/48 PYRO/Lindbergh version. IMHO, the only prettier biplane was the Hawker Fury/Nimrod. Regards, Rob

:-) I've found an article on the Bulldog, in an old Scale Aircraft Modelling mag. It states polished wood on some of the profiles, but not all. The RAF Bulldogs, mostly have coloured hubs (centre of the prop) I would guess in flight colours. It is difficult to tell from the pictures what, if any other colours might have been used. Some could be grey, some could be black. Those that look black could easilly be polished wood.
If you let me have the serial number of the plane you are doing, you never know, it might be one of the profiles. :-)

:-) There isn't a 2215 in the profiles, but 3 ser numbers fairly close, but 3 different squadrons. None of them state polished wood props, but all have coloured prop bosses, so I would assume that 2215 didn't have a polished wood prop. Do you know what squadron it belonged to?

Tally-Ho on K2215!!! She was a Bulldog Mk. IIA (second batch) with No.29 Sqdn at North Weald. Squadron markings: fuselage, red "X" fore and aft of fuselage roundel, under-and super-scored by red bars. top wing, series of 6 red "x" between parallel red bars between the roundels. Does this match the markings in the kit? Sorry, but I don't think you'll be able to paint the prop black and be accurate. Regards from the (former) North American Colonies, Rob

i dug my bulldog out of the home for retired models, its airfix, its serial is K2215 this is from the time i built every thing oob. assuming i simply followed the paint guide its markings are as follows, all silver except the fusalage top which is dark green (humbrol 30)outer wheelcovers are blue (humbrol 14) as is the hub, with a silver spinner, above the oleo leg just beneath the gun trough there is a blue letter M (decal that matches the 14 paint) the fusalage roundel is on top of a red and white checkerboard, with the same checkerboard on the top wing joining the roundels. this model was slightly damaged by my dad when he locked himself out and broke a window to get in the house, dropping broken glass onto the sill where i put this kit out of harms way!!
