Hi all, I am new here although I have been building kits off and on for the last 35 odd years.
I was wondering if anyone has pics or details of the sopwith camel flown by the Scottish ace John Inglis Gilmour or knows of any source for decals for his camel as I would really like to build a 1/48 scale model of this aircraft in his honour as he was born and raised not that far away from me and was a pilot worthy of more attention than seems to have been paid to him.
Thanks in advance

I would be happy to have the details of either or both, I have a dual kit of Eduard 48 Camels sitting in my pile ready and waiting for him. or possibly one could be made up for another Scottish pilot if anyone has any information on suitable candidates.

Gilmour flew D8118 for his last 14 victories, with 65 Squadron. The fuselage markings were a vertical white stripe each side of the fuselage roundel, and Gilmour had a capital S ahead of the forward stripe.
The serial number was on the tailfin in white, thus
D
8118

The system mucked up how the serial number appears (above).
The D should be above the centre of the 8118.

Och Aye Highlandflinger,
I am building a 1/4 scale Camel in honour of Major Gilmour. Have you any more info on the great man ? or any more details of D8118 ?
