I just got this kit today and already it's ready for paint. It's was kind of pricey at $9.99 considering it's from about '85.

On to the other more exciting stuffs.

Like all aircraft kits start, it started with the cockpit... Or in this case the lack of. The pilot is well detailed pretty well though.

After I finished painting the pilot, I got to work on the wing assembly. It was a fast step.

Pretty soon I got the two fuselage halves together, with the the horizontal stabilizers and engine cowling attached.

Next for this is paint. That's where I'll need quite a bit of help as I've never painted these types of markings before. Also the kit didn't come with decals.

Looking good. It looks like the old tool Airfix kit. Did MPC rebox them?

MPC reboxed much of the Airfix catalogue in the 1970s and early'80s. The decals were inferior to the original Airfix decals but the plastic was identical.

Since I never painted German wingy thingys before, are there any kind of masks for the 190? and any reference to paint? The paint chart provided is quite... Well... Nonspecific and vague.

Oh... I forgot... I've got to putty the front of the engine cowling. That dark band around the front is not paint but a large space. And that's all the way around the cowling... What joy.

Our own Mal will sell you any mask you care to ask for

FW-190s were usually painted in RLM 74/75 uppers over 76 undersides although there were many variations. Since you don't have decals, you can have your pick out of hundreds of options, or you could find yourself a decal sheet you like and choose your scheme that way.

I've alreafy forged ahead, in a way, and started to hand paint tbe underside light gray. Just waiting for one coat to dry and I'll finish it off tomorrow night. And I'll probably try the find the easiest scheme out there for a A-8 and try to do that.
