Hello all and long time no see. This is the awesome 1/32 HB P-61. Kit is beautiful and full of detail. I am scratch building some interior parts as i am not good using HB photo etch. Cockpit consist of 130+ parts. This has been a very enjoyable build

Brian,
This is going to be a most impressive build for sure. The kit is huge!! Your interior detailing really compliments the kit's cockpit.

I keep seeing those stands, and I keep meaning to ask - who makes them and where can I get one?

also, who is 631-965-3468?

Hi Brian,
OK I'm very interested in this, I hope to start mine soon The added detail looks good, what references are you using to do this?

Mal

I am going off the photo etch from the instructions. I tried using the kit etch and never have had luck with Hobby Boss etch. So while at hobby shop just picked up styrene that looked close to photo etch and went with it. Turned out pretty great for me

By the way i lived in England for three years. We was stationed at RAF Lakenheath from 83-86 my dad was crew chief on the F-111/. I miss the air shows , food and people >

My dad was a prison officer, based at Woodbridge, near the USAF base. I spent a few evenings on the base "socialising", as my sister was dating a crew chief

An American friend of mine came over to visit earlier this year and he also loves the food and people, his drink of choice is "English tea"!

I'm not sure what, if any, update sets I will use when I build mine? Have you decided which aircraft you will model?

Going for Pacific markings. Just need to look at decals options. I need to get some resin wheels, decals and window mask still

1/32 HB P-61

with True Detail reain wheels. I am very very impressed with the TD resin wheels. Just takes some sanding to get the hubs to fit the tires. And little drilling of hob and sanding on strut wheel shaft for wheels to fit. I am really glad I bought them Major improvement over kit wheels . Highly recommended

Wonderful work, Brian. I'm very curious about your approach and am tuning in regularly.
I'd given up on True Details after receiving numerous defective product. Those wheels look great, though.

I will be using the kit wheels instead of the TD wheels. All four hubs for main tires was warped and broke in center on two . Then one of the wheels was not molded good. So off to the trash they go. I could get get them replaced but after dealing with trying to fix them . Just decided to use kit wheels . Sucks to be excited. TD wheels seems to be a hit and miss

Brian & Ben,
Sorry to read about your issues with the TD wheel sets. I purchased the Ultra Cast set for my up coming P-38J build, so I decided maybe I better take a closer look at them. All three wheels are perfect. The big difference is that the Wheel & Tires are molded as one piece. They were relatively inexpensive, so you might want to check them out.

Hi Brian, a good start on this huge kit,i will follow this with interest.
It is smewhat strange to, that aftermarket articles are inferior
to the kit parts !
