Hello everyone.
I'm brand new to the world of model aircraft although I'm not new to the hobby in general. I just bought an Eduard BF109E-7 Trop. I'd like to paint it and use decals that would reflect a plane flown by Hans-Joachim Marseille while serving in North Africa. Any thoughts and suggestion would be most helpful.
Thanks.
Alex

Lifelike decals has a set 1/32 for Marseille. Part number 32009 "Messerschmitt Me 109 Part 2"

Key will be where you can buy them. Looks like you might order direct from the above website. I found the 1/72 set off ebay.
Cheers

I have seen this set on eBay. They are for a BF109F4-Trop. Would they work on a BF109E-7?

Don't think so. They are for his 109F number 14. Only major difference from the selections is the number of kills recorded on the tail. I guess I should of looked harder at my decals before I posted to see if one of the selections was a E7.

If you have had no luck finding decals you might try masks. If you have any good profile/references of Marseille's 109E-4/7 Trop, check out this link:
http://www.freewebs.com/miraclemasks/
Mal is a regular here on Kitmaker in fact I ordered a custom set of masks for a B-24 that was found in tact(sorta) in the desert in the early '60s (Lady be Good).
I did some checking and Hasegawa came out with a special edition 109E-4/7 Trop 'Marseille'. Here are some links:

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10127540 (this link has pics of the instructions that show the decal placement.
Be nice to get your hands on the decals for that kit
Hope this time I was a little more help.

After all this, I looked at the kit this morning and realized the scale is 1/48. I am leaning towards building Black 3 as per the instructions. It looks like an interesting build and the non-standard paint scheme for North Africa seems a winner. I will look into buying an E-7 Marseille once I have a few builds under my belt. Have an awesome day. Be well. Aex

There aren't any with really good evidence to tell us how they looked.
The only possible exception would be an E-7 trop, W.Nr. 5160, which Marseille may have been flying when he made a belly landing on 23rd April '41. It may have been 'Yellow 7' though others disagree. It didn't carry any victory markings.

Hi Steve.
This seems to be the situation I'm running into. It looks like an F-4 Trop is in order.

Well there are four well documented ones to choose from and a couple are well represented in kit and post market decals
